Did you know that Antwerp, Belgium is the diamond capital of the world? Antwerp is also a conflict-free and ethically-sourced diamond district. They adhere to the Kimberly Process, which is an international agreement preventing conflict diamonds from entering the trade. Don't worry if you didn't know that; you don't have to, because we do. As your jeweler we do things the right way and with the right partners in America and around the world, so you don't have to think beyond the beautiful piece of jewelry in front of you.
We take diamond presale orders every April and October before our trip to Antwerp where we hand-pick your perfect diamond. In a world where we order so much online, and often without any human contact, this experience is the exact opposite. We work with you and for you, throughout the entire process. We understand how important your diamond is and what it symbolizes as a finished piece of jewelry. We take every step of this process very seriously.
Antwerp processes more than 200 million carats of diamonds annually. This is one of the main reasons we make this biannual trip. With the current cost associated with stocking this kind of inventory, there is no way we can offer this kind of selection in store. For example, when we are on the hunt, for let's say a 2 carat diamond, we get to look at dozens of diamonds to make our selection; whereas, in our store we may only have three or four to chose from. And not only are we looking at one particular broker, we visit many brokers throughout the diamond district.
Not only are we hand-selecting diamonds for our customers, we would be remiss if we didn't take advantage of rare and powerful educational opportunities to train and teach ourselves while among the top experts in the global diamond industry. Taking our sales staff with us, gives us every effort to watch and learn from experienced multi-generational diamond cutters using the latest technology and raising the bar of excellence within the cutting industry. We even take turns cutting a diamond so we can better understand the process and what it takes to cut the most brilliant diamonds. This training comes around full circle when we are looking at the finished diamonds we are choosing for your jewelry.
